The Church of the All-Father has many servants, Aeolus being among one of the more well known. And just as the All-Father himself is a warrior as well as a creator, so the Church must defend its flocks as well as provide for them. From the day of his calling to this, Aeolus has worn white for purity and blue for the All-Father's strength, as vast as the endless sky.

Aeolus was called into divine service by his faith, beginning his life as a warrior before he discovered the All-Father's glory. Aeolus serves as guardian and defender of the cathedral, defending the body of the Holy Church from any who would oppose it. In the days since the Shadow Lord's invasion, Aeolus has been faced with a new duty as well. As the most stalwart Paladin, Aeolus was elected to venture out into the world, seeking news of the All-Father's fate and helping the innocent wait out the dark times until He may return. Aeolus is ordained as a priest of the All-Father, though his grasp of the liturgy pales next to that of White Mages, the masters of the Holy Church. When he took his vows, Aeolus was assured absolution of all his sins and promised the highest reward if he did not return from his duties. So redeemed, Aeolus now holds an unshakeable faith in his cause and knows no fear of death, pain, or failure. Even dark magic cannot break Aeolus morale, and he is feared by evildoers throughout each of the kingdoms of Vana'diel. Aeolus is made even stronger by his faith, which grants him powers of healing, protection, and fortitude, bestowed upon him by the All-Father.

During his servitude over the course of two ages of the world, Aeolus has never shirked from his duty and has continued the war against the forces of the Shadow Lord. But the Shadow Lord and his servants are not the only enemy the Church faces. For any who raise arms against the innocent or the Holy Church had best be on guard for the fury of Aeolus is fearsome indeed and he will pursue the offenders to the ends of Vana'diel.

One who was not a part of the Shadow Lords minions but was seen as a threat to the Church was a powerful dark warrior known as Tyreal. With Aeoluss great skill in seeking out wanted individuals, the Church assigned him the task of locating this warrior and observing him to determine the true threat posed by Tyreal.

After gathering what he needed from his meager belongings, he set out from San d'Oria in search of the warrior. Based on his last rumored location, he traveled to Windurst. And after several weeks of intensive searching, he narrowed down the area where he thinks Tyreal may be. Traveling to the northern stretches of the Windurst capital, he searched the hills for any sign of recent encampments. After discovering several, some extremely recent, he believed he had caught the trail of the legendary fighter. He set off in the direction that the party creating those campsites was headed, everyday getting closer to those he was following.

Mid-morning on the fourth day, Aeolus toped a hill and saw a Galka being followed by several other people. Staying at a safe distance he began observing the party as they travel across the hills of northern Windurst. The first night he knew he had found the person he was looking for as the Tarutaru in the party addressed the Galka as Tyreal. He watched the group for another couple of days, being as stealthy as possible. On the second night, Aeolus witnessed one of the Elvaans in the group speaking to Tyreal in private. However, they soon returned to the campfire and soon fell asleep.

Aeolus awoke early in the morning, not by the usual talking of the nearby party which woke him the previous two days, but rather with an ice-cold splash of water to his face. Opening his eyes he saw the intimidating Galka standing over him. He stood up quickly ready for anything, getting into a defensive stance. Tyreal crossed his arms and began laughing. After leading Aeolus to their campsite, they discussed the reason he was following them. Aeolus found the group to be a very kind and welcoming party and openly discussed his reasoning behind seeking them out.

After speaking with the group for several hours, Aeolus felt he had enough information to return to the Church and dismiss their fears about the Dark Knight known as Tyreal. However, he was disappointed he would have to leave this group. They were a close group and, although he had been with them a few hours, he felt very comfortable here.

Sensing this, the Galka extended Aeolus an offer he couldnt refuse. Rather then returning immediately to the Church, Aeolus was more then welcome to continue his investigation by observing the Dark Knight on a much closer levelEas one of his companions. Seeing this as a great compromise between his duties and his desires, Aeolus set off with the party to continue his investigation and offer any support he could to the group, both physically as well as spiritually.
