There are five kinds of chat communication you can choose in Final Fantasy XI. Note the color of the text in the navy blue box, which is how it looks when you are chatting in the specified channel.

Emotion Command List
If you input these text inside your text window with a / in front, you are able to show the character's action. If you do the same thing by targeting other character, you will show the action towards the character that you have targeted.

Emote

| You are able to expand the use of character emotion command by using /emote command. Example: If the character name is Agari: In the text input window type in /emote is very sleepy.
It will show in the log window Agari is very sleepy |
Friend List
Friend List is a function to store your friend's name in PlayOnline, it can be used in Final Fantasy XI. It is like a form of address book.
Options in Friend List
To List
* Shows the list of your friends online or logged in. You can click on the names to send them an Instant Message.
View Message
* Lists the messages received from your friends.
Friend Search
* Searches a player through certain requirements. Please check Search for details.
Online Status
* Shows the online status of the friends.
Option
* For you to change various settings
Edit Profile
* To change the detail information about yourself.
Visibility setting
* To set whether you want or don't want certain people to know that you are in logged in state.
HN List
* Lists the names of your friend list in alphabetical order.
Link Shell
* Link Pearl is something that you can communicate with your Group/Guild/Clan members.
* Link Shells are sold in shops in any Kingdom.
To use the Link Shell
Go to your main menu and choose "Link Shell". You are able to input the "Link Name" after doing it. You are able to put maximum of 19 English characters. Link Name will be the name of the Link Group( Guild/ Clan ). After deciding on your Link Name, you will be able to choose the color of your link shell from 16 different colors they provide. Link shell will change to "Link Pearl" after you have done so. You can make multiple Link Pearls from one Link Shell. If you had the chance to get a "Unopened Link Shell" Try equipping it on you.
Distribution of Link Pearl
Players are able to receive a Link Pearl via Trade. After equipping it, there will be "Link Group Channel" for the group to chat on. The person that distributes the Link Pearl will be the Leader, the one that receive it will be a member of the group.
About Kick
Of course there will be some members that does stupid stuff to make your group shameful, or he might have joined the group to make trouble... you are able to kick those trouble making players from your group by choosing to kick the player out from the group.
