MMORPG Definition: Any game in which hundreds or more players simultaneously role play is termed a MMORPG. These games started mostly in the fantasy category, but will soon run the gambit from science fiction to medieval combat. Usually these games charge a monthly fee for participation (In this case it does).



Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) is the first ever Online RPG of the Final Fantasy series. The network world is called Vana'diel, which the player itself will be create the "character" of the game. You can solve mysteries and defeat monsters both alone and through the unity of other members of your party. This type of game allows you to play the game freely with your own style.

In Final Fantasy XI, the character is the player. When designing their character at the beginning of the game, the players are able to choose the race they would like, the sex of the character, the way the face looks, and the size of the body. In addition, Final Fantasy XI will feature a "Job System", much like some of the older Final Fantasy Series. By mastering various "Jobs" you will be able to have the "Job Abilities" of that specific job.

What's special about any MMORPG, is the feature of "Communication" with other players. This does not change with Final Fantasy XI. They have prepared the user friendly "Chat System" and "Friend Registry" for you to communicate with. Making friends in game makes it more fun to play and also allows you to advance through the game at a faster pace.
