The third online game playable via the PlayOnline network gaming service will be opened to the public on October 7, Square announced recently. Before any of you get all that excited, though, it's simply a game of online Mah-Jong, available for when Final Fantasy XI grows a little too tiresome.

The Mah-Jong beta test concludes today, and the full game will be available to all owners of FFXI on October 7, including CPU opponents, four-player multiplayer competition, and online ranking ladders to group players of differing skill levels. Like the online Tetra Master card game, participation in the Mah-Jong game will incur a monthly charge of 300 yen ($0.75) in addition to the fee for FFXI.
